Good gracious it is HOT! Forgive me native Texans, but about this time of year I start wondering exactly WHY we live in Texas. Because it is HOT with no end anytime soon. I have lived in Texas since I was about 10,and I am here to stay so I might as well embrace the heat. I am quite certain this is one of the best ways to embrace it. Enjoy!

It is such fun to photograph kids when they are clearly having a BLAST. At first some are reluctant to jump in the water. The hesitation quickly fades away and pure delight takes its place. I always end up getting a little wet myself. It is all fine with me. What a way to cool down for both me and them.

Senior Season? Yes, you heard right. You might not have even known there was such a thing. But, alas, here I am again giving you the scoop from my end of the lens. This is the time of year that seniors want their pictures taken. – and I am happy to play along. If you happen to be in the senior-looking -to-do-pictures category, pull out your calendar and mark down Sept 4th and 5th. That is the next Senior Mini Session. If you are a Willow Bend Academy student there is a date set aside just for you – October 2nd. At the end of each session, I always give my little run down of how things will play out now that the pictures are taken. I always tell people that I will go home and edit the pictures, then I will post a gallery for them that will be live for 4 days, at which time their order is due. Sounds simple, right? We all have digital cameras, right? You may even know how to bump the color in your photos. And YAY if you do. Really, I don’t mean that sarcastically. Every picture can use a bump here and there in the color pop area. Or maybe a deep soulful black and white is what you are going for. However, I thought I would just share a little insight into what “go home and edit” really means. I typically come home with about 200 pictures at the least. I take those pictures and download them onto my computer. I usually narrow those down to about 20-30 really great shots. The first edit is trashing all the ones that a no, (eyes closed, etc). Each picture that actually makes it to the editing list, gets a really REALLY close up look. I don’t want to make you look airbrushed and fake, I just want to show how beautiful you really are. So I take a picture like this: (which is already beautiful right from the get-go)

and work a little magic and then we have THIS!:

Pretty fantastic, huh? Look at how those beautiful blue eyes just jump out at you now!

1 baby + 1 blanket + 1 camera = 30 minutes of fun, fun, fun!

Several times a year I host a mini session event. Each person/family gets a 30 minute time slot. 30 minutes may not sound like a lot, but trust me, I can get A LOT done in 30 minutes. This little guy is now officially 1 year old. Most 1 year olds aren’t going to last much longer than 30 minutes anyway. After editing all the pictures and pitching some, this little guy’s mom will have 44 cute, funny, priceless pictures of her little man. Here are a few of the ones she has to love on.
